AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIVITY ESTIMATES

CEGIS supported the Planning Department, Government of Telangana in strengthening the system to measure agricultural production estimates. This is a critical component which goes into calculating the gross value added (GVA) for the Agriculture sector and eventually the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). To fulfil this, the CEGIS team supported in conducting a detailed diagnostic and then developing digital survey instruments for capturing crop areas and setting up a system for monitoring and cleaning incoming data. This digital survey also contained a novel measurement feature known as 'geotrace' which was piloted in an attempt to improve data quality 

In addition, CEGIS supported the training of approximately 500 Mandal Planning and Statistical Officers (MPSOs), who are frontline functionaries of the planning department  for the carrying out of the mentioned activities.
